Winnipeg Sea Bears clinch playoff spot for second straight year – Winnipeg

The Winnipeg Sea Bears are returning to the postseason for the second year in a row.

The Sea Bears came from a two-game deficit on Tuesday to beat the Calgary Surge 111-104 to secure a spot in the playoffs.

The Sea Bears trailed by as many as 13 points in the third quarter, but outscored the Surge 29-17 in the fourth quarter en route to their second straight win. Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson sealed the win with a free throw and finished the night with 17 points.

It was the second-largest crowd in CEBL history, with 11,051 fans in attendance at the Canada Life Centre for the deciding game, with the Upper Bowl open for the first time since last year’s playoff game.

Justin Wright-Foreman scored a game-high 24 points for Winnipeg.

The win eliminates the Saskatchewan Rattlers from the playoffs and keeps the Sea Bears hoping for a playoff appearance.

The Sea Bears are in the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, with a 9-9 record and just one win behind the Surge for third place. Both teams have just two games remaining, and Thursday’s rematch in Calgary could determine their final position in the standings.
