On Tuesday night’s episode, the remaining cast of 2024 was tasked with three seasonal challenges, including a sweet, fall-inspired cake signature.
They also dabbled in a vegan technique, creating cakes celebrating seasonal vegetables for the showstopper.
Who left Bake Off last night?
However, palliative care assistant Nelly became the next contestant to leave The Great British Bake Off after failing to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith during the autumn week.
Sumayah was named star baker of the week, while Nelly was told by co-host Noel Fielding that she would be leaving the show.
The 44-year-old from Dorset said: “It’s not pity, it’s positive, I’m so ready to go.
“I never thought I would make it to round six! I know my children are so proud.
“It’s not to teach them to win, but to teach them to enjoy. Don’t cry! Everyone is crying….
“Of course I am happy – there is a piece of Nelly in each of your hearts and you will never forget me. Cake – we can bake!”

She continued, “I was ready to leave and felt it was my time to go.
“Noel had the role of sending me home and he found that so difficult.
“I looked at him and tried to support him with my eyes to tell him it was okay.
‘But he couldn’t look at me, he was really upset. The production team cried and it really touched my heart.”
Discussing her future in baking, she added: “I don’t really have any expectations…but there are so many people who would love to see more of Nelly on TV…so we’ll see what the future holds…I am ready!!!! I’m ready to be myself.”
After discovering Nelly’s fate, Channel 4 viewers took to social media to share their feelings, saying they were “so sad” about her departure, with some claiming the judges made a “seriously bizarre decision” taken.
