Poundland confirms major change in stores and online

This change sees the launch of the brand’s first rewards app, ‘Poundland Perks’.

The £20m investment by Poundland hopes to offer customers more value with its rewards app after it was trialled in around 100 stores on the Isle of Wight and in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

From Thursday 17 October, Poundland Perks will be available for use across the UK, giving customers the chance to save, earn and play.

Customers using the Poundland app can earn ‘perks points’ when they spend in different parts of the store.

In addition, to celebrate the launch, Poundland will be ‘powering up’ points on everything in the store, giving customers 100 points for every pound they spend until Christmas.

When a customer collects 5,000 points, they can convert them into digital rewards vouchers that they can spend in-store or online or save for a larger purchase.

Points and prizes can also be won through the app’s ‘Spin to Winsday’ game, which takes place on Wednesdays from October 23.

In addition, as Poundland has a partnership with Unilever, the 100+ offers will include six exclusive Top Perk deals for the first six weeks on Domestos (750ml), Lynx Body Spray (200ml), Pot Noodle (90g ), Dove APA (200 ml), TRESemmé (900 ml) and Lynx 225 ml SG.

The Poundland Perks app can be downloaded from the Google Play and Apple App stores by searching for Poundland Perks and offers customers a minimum of 100 Perks offers in the app at any time.

Poundland’s Digital Director, Tom Hill, said: “Today is a really important day for our customers as we open up a new digital world that gives them the chance to save, earn and play through their smartphone, making shopping with us even more fun and even more great value – both in store and online.”


Added: “To date, more than 500,000 customers have signed up across our digital platforms and we look forward to welcoming many more.

“We do things differently than other retailers, delivering extra value on top of our everyday low prices and we know from our pilots that our customers love the increased value and simplicity that the Perks app provides.”

In conjunction with the launch of Poundland Perks, the brand will also embark on a nationwide tour with the Nescafe-backed caravan cafe popping up in major cities to encourage customers to download the app and save, earn and play.
