Liam and Noel Gallagher hint at possible Oasis announcement

On Sunday evening, a short clip of a sign in the style of the Oasis logo was shared on both Instagram accounts and on the official Oasis page.

The black board had the date “27.08.24” written in the middle, before it started flashing and changed to “08:00”.

Fans of the Manchester rock band have been urging the brothers to get back together since they split in 2009 following a brawl backstage at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.

During Liam’s headline performance at Reading Festival on Sunday night, he dedicated Oasis’ song Half The World Away to his estranged brother Noel and later dedicated their hit Cigarettes & Alcohol to people he said hate the rock band.

At the end of the performance, the same clip announcing Tuesday’s date was shown on the main stage screens.

Rumors of a reunion have been circulating for years, but have only grown stronger recently as the feud between the two appears to have been resolved.

A report in The Sunday Times quotes industry insiders as claiming the brothers will perform a series of gigs next year, including shows at Wembley Stadium in London and Heaton Park in Manchester.

There is also speculation that a headline performance at Glastonbury is in the works.

Liam fueled the rumors by making a number of tongue-in-cheek responses to fans who flooded him with messages on social media asking for confirmation.

After The Times posted the article on X, formerly Twitter, a fan said Heaton Park was a “terrible venue for concerts,” to which Liam responded: “See you at the front.”

When another asked when the reunion dates would be announced, he replied, “Next Friday.”

The rocker also tweeted Sunday morning that he “never liked the word FORMER.”

That’s because the classic debut album Definitely Maybe celebrates its 30th anniversary this week with a special edition.

Liam toured the UK this summer with his Definitely Maybe tour to celebrate 30 years since the album’s release in 1994.

Noel was noticeably absent from the concerts, but during a show in Cardiff Liam made a point of dedicating Half The World Away to his “little brother”, saying he was “still playing hard to get”.

Liam also performed a number of Oasis hits during his headline performance at Leeds Festival on Friday night.

Fans were also surprised when, in an interview with music journalist John Robb of Sifters Records in Manchester last week to celebrate the album’s 30th anniversary, Noel lavished a series of compliments on Liam.

Reflecting on Liam’s performances on some of their hits, Noel said: “It’s about the delivery or the tone of his voice and his attitude.

“I don’t have the same attitude as him.”

He also jokingly compared Liam’s voice to “10 shots of tequila on a Friday night” and his voice to “half a Guinness on a Tuesday”.

The Britpop group was formed in 1991 and rose to fame with hits such as Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back In Anger and Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

They grew to become one of the biggest bands in British music history until they split in 2009.

The brothers each went on to have successful careers of their own, with Noel leading the group Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
