Karaoke competition at Proper Pubs to find ‘next pop star’

With 31 participating pubs across the North West, including locations in Oldham, Heywood and Manchestersingers are being urged to showcase their talents for a chance to be crowned Proper Pub Idol.

The competition, organized by Admiral Taverns, gives the winner £1,000 in cash and a shooting day to create their own single.

The runners-up will also be rewarded, with the second place winner receiving £500 and the third place winner receiving £250.

Each participating pub is currently holding heats, with the top three singers progressing to the pub finals.

During the pub final, which will take place in the week commencing Monday 28 October, the top nine singers from that particular pub will each perform two songs.

The winner and runners-up will then advance to the following week’s regional final, where they will again perform twice.

The regional winner will receive a £100 bar tab for their home pub.

The national final will take place on Saturday, November 17 at The Broadway in Leeds, where three independent judges will decide the fate of the finalists.

The competition is now open and the week’s winners will receive a bottle of prosecco.

  • Horse and jockey, Heywood

  • Queens, Bredbury

  • Strawberry Gardens, Manchester

  • Town Hall Tavern, Greater Manchester

This initiative is part of Admiral Tavern’s Proper Pub Idol competition, sponsored by HOOCH.
