Joy for Bolton Futsal Club star after her England call-up

Nineteen-year-old Joy Low helped Bolton become National Futsal Series women’s league champions for the 2023/24 season and is now primed for international honours.

Before joining Bolton in 2020, Low trained at Tameside’s Sala Futsal club and will be joined in the national ranks by another Sala graduate, 17-year-old Sofia Wilby.

The pair travel to Moldova today with the England Futsal Lioness team for FIFA World Cup qualifying, where they will take on Finland, Sweden and Moldova.

These will be the England Women’s Football Team’s first ever competitive matches, so it is a real achievement to become the first ever Lioness Futsal Team.

Neil Lucas, women’s head coach of Sala Futsal and Manchester Futsal Club, said: “This is such an exciting time for women’s football in England and for two of our Sala graduates to form the first ever Futsal Lioness team is a fantastic achievement.

“I extend my best wishes to Sofia, Joy and the rest of the squad as they play in Moldova. It would be great if the Lionesses could qualify for the first ever Women’s Futsal World Cup.”
