It feels like winter in Ontario as several parts of the province are blanketed in snow, and the snowy weather is expected to continue through the weekend.
Environment Canada reports that local snow accumulations could exceed 75 centimeters in some areas by Sunday afternoon.
Dangerous lake effect snow showers are expected to affect areas of southwestern and central Ontario along Lake Huron throughout the weekend.
Weather advisories are in effect for communities throughout the western part of the province as far east as Bancroft and as far east as Sault Ste. Marie.

Most communities in this area have been warned for snow showers or are watching as the system develops.
“Intensive bands of lake effect snow at Georgian Bay and Lake Huron will impact the area throughout the weekend. These bands will shift from time to time, but will be capable of intense snowfall,” Environment Canada warns.
Travel is expected to be difficult to nearly impossible at times under these bands, Environment Canada warns.
The National Weather Service reports that maximum snowfall will be between five and ten centimeters per hour.
Motorists are warned that conditions can change quickly within a few miles and road closures are likely.
