How to Celebrate Canada Day in the Edmonton Area – Edmonton

The long Canada Day weekend is upon us and there are several ways to celebrate the nation’s birthday in and around Edmonton.

Here’s a look at some of the main events taking place in the Capital Region on Monday, July 1.

Fireworks in River Valley

The The City of Edmonton will host a fireworks show at 11 p.m. in the River Valley.

Possible locations to view the footage include Queen Elizabeth Park and Hill, River Valley Road Trail, Victoria Park, Ezio Faraone Park, the Alberta Legislature grounds, Walterdale Hill Road, Government House Park, and 109th Street between Saskatchewan Drive and the High Level Bridge.

People cannot watch the show from Kinsmen Park. There will be road closures all day on Canada Day. View road closures on the City of Edmonton website.

Mill Woods Park

Canada Day festivities will be held Monday from 2pm to 11pm at Mill Woods Park.

An afternoon full of dance, music and multicultural performances ends with fireworks at 11:00 PM

Alberta Legislature Grounds

After a year of construction, the fountain and wading pool at the Alberta Parliament will reopen on July 1.

Family-friendly events including musical performances, multicultural music and dance shows, jugglers, circus acts and roving entertainment will take place between 12:00 and 17:00.

The Legislative Chamber Floor is open to the public from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Legislative Assembly Visitors Centre in the Queen Elizabeth II Building is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ice District

The free family fun kicks off at Ice District on July 1 at 3pm, with a lineup of Canadian musicians including headliner country music star Mackenzie Porter. Other performers include Dan Davidson and Mariya Stokes.

The singers will perform on the main stage at 6 p.m

Other family fun includes games, bounce houses, photo booths, face painting and other performers.

The festivities end at 10pm, leaving plenty of time for people to head to the River Valley to watch the city’s fireworks display.

Edmonton Riverhawks game

If you’re into baseball, the Edmonton Riverhawks will play Port Angeles in a game at Re/Max Field at 7:05 p.m.

The ball stadium is a great place to stay after the game to watch the fireworks downtown.

Sherwood Park

Strathcona County will host Canada Day activities at Broadmoor Lake ParkThe festivities start with a pancake breakfast at 9am

A day full of fun ends with fireworks at 11 p.m

Saint Albert

Family activities take place at Servus Place from 10am to 4pm and includes food trucks, a scavenger hunt, glitter tattoos, face painting and free public skating.

Kung Fu Panda 4 will be shown on an outdoor screen in Millennium Park at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM

The day of fun ends with a fireworks show from Meadowview Ball Diamonds at 11 p.m.

Leduc

A pancake breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m. Canada Day in Leduc. A car show, hockey circus and Other family activities are also on the agenda.

At 11:00 PM there will be a fireworks show within a three-kilometer radius of Lede Park.

Beaumont

Canada Day will be celebrated at Four Seasons Park in Beaumont Monday from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Activities include a Ninja Warrior course, an inflatable water slide, wood carving with a power saw, train rides and garden games.

Fireworks will take place at 11 p.m

Spruce forest

A pancake breakfast will be held from 9am before the Canada Day festivities begin at noon.

Activities include a water dog race, a BMX stunt show and crafts. For the kids there is a pop-up playground, a toddler tent and bouncy castles.

The spray park is open from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A neighborhood market is also held from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Live performances take place between 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM and between 7:30 PM and 11:00 PM.

A fireworks show will take place at 11 p.m

Stony plain

Canada Day is celebrated from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m on the grounds of the Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum and on Main Street.

Activities include face painting, a foam party, pony rides and a car show.
