Funeral Date Set for Saskatchewan’s ‘Bella Brave’

Isabella Thomson, also known as “Bella Brave” on social media, passed away on July 14, 2024.

As family and friends mourn the loss of the 10-year-old boy from Swift Current, a date has been set for the funeral.

“Family and friends of Bella are invited to attend a funeral mass on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church,” Thomson’s obituary reads.

The family will also livestream the funeral mass on Saturday and make a donation in her name to Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada.

Bella shared her story with millions of followers on TikTok, with the help of her mother Kyla Thomson, documenting her life and health journey.

The girl from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, was born with dwarfism, a deficient immune system and other health problems that left her in and out of hospital for years.

In late 2023, Bella underwent a life-saving intestinal transplant and spent four months in hospital recovering.

Bella died on July 14, after being placed in a medically induced coma at SickKids Hospital in Toronto for a week before her passing.

In May, Bella was taken to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon. She was later flown to Toronto after suffering from nighttime fevers and being put on oxygen for more than a month. In late June, she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.
