West End by Candlelight concert at Manchester Cathedral

The Sing Space Musical Theater Choirs from Greater Manchester and Accrington will perform at Manchester Cathedral on Sunday 8 December.

The event, called West End by Candlelight, will see singers perform songs from the West End.

This will be the second year the event has been held and due to last year's success, an additional performance has been added.

Residents can purchase tickets for the 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. performances.

Anthony Clegg from Together in Harmony and The Sing Space Musical Theater Choirs said: “I'm really looking forward to the event and after the incredible success of 2023 we can offer two performances in the hope that we can share our show with more people and, most importantly, raising even more money for this year's chosen charity, Alzheimer's Society.

“It is a matter that is very close to so many of the choir members involved in the show, who have witnessed first-hand the devastating effect this disease can have on their loved ones, but also on those who have it closest to them.”

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's largest dementia charity, providing support and resources to people affected by dementia.

The charity relies on voluntary donations to continue their work and people can donate by visiting alzheimers.org.uk.

Rebecca Neill, regional fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society, said: “It's great that Together in Harmony and the Sing Space Musical Theater Choirs are dedicating their time to supporting Alzheimer's Society.

“Every hour people give generously to raise money for us, every event they participate in, every pound they donate, they make a life-changing difference for people with dementia.

'There are more than 87,000 people with dementia in North West England.

“But we simply cannot reach everyone without the continued support of our incredible fundraisers like Together in Harmony.”

For those interested in joining the Sing Space Musical Theater Choirs, a free taster session will be offered in January 2025, with no auditions or experience required.
