The internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter makes her debut as the voice of Metrolink this week as she prepares to host the MTV EMAs for the first time.
The musician takes over the tram announcements at selected stops and provides tips on journey planning and navigation.
She wants to put a smile on passengers' faces as they travel through the city.
The MTV EMAs ceremony will take place during Co-Op Live on Sunday, November 10.
The event will be broadcast live to more than 150 countries around the world.
In the week leading up to the ceremony, Metrolink passengers will notice an MTV EMA-inspired makeover at the St. Peter's Square tram stop.
Passengers can pose in front of prize posters for categories such as 'Best Tram Outfit', 'Longest Commute', 'Best Tram Passenger' and 'Seat Offer Hero'.
Transport for Greater Manchester's offices opposite Piccadilly station have also been given an MTV makeover to build excitement for the EMAs.
MTV Music Week will also take place in Manchester in the run-up to the awards ceremony, 'to spotlight some of the city's best-loved venues' and provide a platform for 'up-and-coming homegrown artists'.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said: “We have long said that Manchester is the music capital of Britain, with a rich musical heritage dating back decades and helping to build a vibrant, diverse music scene that continues to flourish today.
“Having the MTV EMAs, Music Week and some of the biggest names in pop music, such as Rita Ora in Manchester, not only helps to strengthen our claim, but it also provides a huge boost to our music industry and the wider economy.
“We're absolutely thrilled to have Rita Ora as the voice of Metrolink this week, and I hope everyone attending the MTV EMAs and Music Week events will enjoy all that Manchester has to offer.”
Richard Godfrey, executive producer of the MTV EMAs, added: “The MTV EMAs are about to land in Manchester, and the city has given us such a warm welcome.
“We hope that fans traveling this week and attending the show on Sunday will enjoy Rita Ora's announcements during their travels.
“Rita will not only be bringing the MTV EMA spirit to the Co-op Live stage, she will also be bringing it to the people of Manchester on the tram.”
