Tributes paid to David Edmonds, Wigan, after police investigation finds body

On Wednesday (October 30), police sadly found the body of a man who has now been confirmed to be David Edmonds.

David, aged 55, from Wigan, had been missing for nine days. Officers searched the area extensively and supported David's loved ones during an extremely difficult time.

His wife described David on behalf of his family as a happy guy and loved by his family, all his friends and colleagues.

“He was a hard worker and worked all his life. His first job was with his father at a local factory, and he worked there from an early age until recently.

“He was a big Everton supporter and loved going to the games. He's had season tickets since he was a kid. David loved all sports and watched anything with a ball, cricket, football and rugby, especially Wigan rugby.

“He also loved horse racing; we went to the races in York every year.

“He loved going on holiday and we traveled a lot together, going to Australia, New York, Tenerife and Benidorm.

“David was a big family man and adored his three cousins. He will be missed by all of us, he was so loved.

“We would like to thank the police and everyone who shared calls on social media or started looking for David.”

David's family has asked for privacy as they mourn his loss.
