Winnipeg police say they have been able to make more than a dozen arrests as part of a proactive sweep of perpetrators.
In response to several reports of juveniles being presented in local neighborhoods, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Counter Exploitation Unit made thirteen arrests in various areas on the city’s north and west sides between September 27 and October 2.
The men range in age from 23 to 62 and were arrested for obtaining sexual services for money.
Eleven vehicles were also seized under the Road Traffic Act. Several people who worked in the sex industry were offered community resources.

Cathy Peters is an anti-human trafficking educator and tells 680 CJOB’s The News how dangerous this industry is.
“The thing is, anyone who gets into the sex industry, they’re not supposed to get out,” Peters said. “We see that only one to five percent get out. The rest are drug addicts, mentally ill, commit suicide or are murdered.
“It’s a deadly, deadly industry and we don’t want women or girls in it.”
