Bradshaw-based Wellington boot manufacturer Grubs Boots won Retail/Leisure and Hospitality Business of the Year.
Regional sales manager Abi Foster said: “We are so grateful to have won as it was such a tough category.”
Grubs Boots is a family business founded by the Foster Family and has been making shoes since 1776.
Grubs is the result of investing in the most advanced materials and technology during their mission to create the most comfortable shoes available in the field.
This is nothing new, as eight generations of the Foster family have been making the best sports shoes since 1776.
Joe Foster, David’s great-grandfather, was one of the founders of AAA, handmade shoes for 1924 Olympic stars Harold Abrams and Eric Liddell, featured in “Chariots of Fire.”
The company added: “David and his wife’s dedication to ensuring the business is a success is evident in the amount of travel they undertake.
“Since I started working with them, David has traveled to America, Asia and other parts of the world to promote and showcase their brand at conferences.
“They have also given their apprentice the opportunity to attend in the UK, giving the apprentice practical skills that they would not be able to acquire in an office environment.
“If you’re looking for a successful family business, look no further than Grubs Boots.
“Grubs is the result of investing in the most advanced materials and technology in our mission to create the most comfortable footwear available in this field.”
Rivington’s Village Green Tea Room strengthened the list of nominees alongside Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe, Amazonia and Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
The award was sponsored by The Bolton News.
