Daisy will go into the match on the back of a surprise win over Premier Division Lower Breck in last Saturday’s FA Vase, and manager Lee Hill is keen to ensure his team take the positives from that.
“The biggest thing we learned from Saturday’s game is that it gives us a platform to build on and it gives the boys confidence,” Hill said.
“It certainly wasn’t a lucky performance, we’ve had a few good ones this month. We scored six goals against Skelmersdale United and we beat a good Route One Rovers team, who beat us twice last season.
“It’s a testament to the hard work that the management team and the players have put in. I think it shows that we’re putting the building blocks in place and that we’re moving in the right direction.”
Despite their recent good form, Daisy go into Friday’s derby as underdogs against an LR team who have made an impressive start to the season.
“Atherton LR are a very good team, a very effective team who have had a brilliant start to the season and that is a continuation of what they did last season.
“It will obviously be a tough game for us, but I think it will be a good game. And the current form is often not good in these cases.
“LR is further along with their project than we are with what they have achieved on and off the field, but we can fall back on a number of good results.
“LR doesn’t want to drop from the top of the rankings, and we are in the middle of the table, so there is no pressure on us at all, and that is to our advantage.
“I’m sure the boys will show themselves well, they’re all ready and it’s a chance for us to put in another good performance and end the month really well.
“Nobody really expects us to win, we’re a massive underdog, but we’ve had a good month so it’s a bit of a free pass for us to see if we can go there and cause a surprise.”
