New BBC series from Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris – when to watch

McGuinness, Harris and Flintoff previously co-hosted the popular BBC series Top Gear, until Flintoff was seriously injured in an accident at the series’ test track, Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, in December 2022.

The former England cricket captain allegedly overturned a Morgan Super 3 vehicle at the first corner of the Top Gear test circuit during filming for the show while not wearing a helmet.

The vehicle was only at a speed of 22 mph but was open, meaning that when it overturned, Flintoff’s face scraped across the asphalt, the Post on Sunday.

The presenter suffered broken ribs and serious facial injuries in the incident with Flintoff’s son Corey. He said at the time that his father was “lucky to be alive” and described it as a “pretty nasty crash”.

It was reported that Flintoff’s crash was so serious that Top Gear staff who witnessed the crash were suspended indefinitely. They struggled to come to terms with the incident being described as “something you really don’t want to see again”.

After months of speculation, the BBC finally took the decision to put Top Gear on hold for the time being in November last year.

Flintoff recently made his first television return in the BBC series Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams On Tour.
