Customers at the Asda store in Accrington used social media to highlight the price differences on certain items, in terms of what was on the shelf label and the Scan & Go devices.
Of the examples shared, only one resulted in a savings because the price on the scanner was cheaper than in store.

One customer said: “Their price tags are constantly wrong and it’s a joke.
“I only noticed it when I used the self-scan. If you’ve gone through the normal checkouts and then realize you have to go to customer service and wait while they check.
“I only have a handful of items and it’s ridiculous that so many of them are wrong.”
Price differences were as much as €1.50 for some individual items.
While other customers pointed out that the prices corrected themselves at the checkout after the entire store was scanned, they also said that this was not the intention and that the prices should be correct across the board.
One person said: “I have raised a similar issue with the staff at the self-checkout. They said it will come off at the checkout, but that’s not the point…’
Another said they alerted the store’s management to the problem “months ago.”

Asda has now responded to the issue, saying customers should check with staff for correct prices.
A spokesperson said: “The price change process means that shelf labels need to be changed at the same time as they are updated on Scan & Go.
“If an item is scanned at a different price than the price shown on the label on the edge of the shelf, the customer should alert a colleague who can confirm the correct price to be paid.”
