The occasion was graced by the Excessive Commissioner of India, Vikram Doraiswami, and Deputy Director of Nehru Centre, Sanjay Ok. Sharma.
In his speech, Vikram Doraiswami stated, “This is a chance to be acquainted with what is well one of the lovely and least understood components of a various and huge nation like India. That is in itself very particular. Every state of the Northeast has its personal tradition, custom, arts, crafts and certainly its personal distinct set of communities. The Northeast is a sequence of civilizations in a single place, and albeit every week may be very little to do justice to the area. The Northeast cuisines, languages, the dance types and their historical past, each is exclusive and worthy of its personal research. However distant from Northeast India, to be a part of this right here in London, is about pretty much as good as it’s going to get.”
The Meghalaya group, UK, added , “We’re very proud to be a part of such a memorable occasion and have the ability to showcase the various arts, tradition and heritage of our state. The eight states meet is an epitome of unity, solidarity and satisfaction of the sister states. Lastly, because the saying goes- house is the place the center is- stands so true with the Meghalayan group within the UK.”
Subsequent, cultural artifacts from the eight states of Northeast India might be displayed at Nehru Centre, London from October 10-14 to intrigue and whet the curiosities of worldwide audiences within the UK. The Exhibition beckons with the tagline, “Come and be a part of the eight sisters meet and discover our intriguing mix of tradition and custom”.
Entrance to the exhibition is free and welcomes all to witness the superb murals by a few of the most interesting artists of the area. This, they are saying, is a humble try to advertise the creative and cultural richness of the North Jap area of India to a world viewers.
